Yuck-O

I wonder if every new mom is excited to give their child their first food? Chris and I could not wait to feed sweet Parker some rice cereal. We put him in the high chair, put on the bib and made rice cereal. I had made it before during my babysitting years and report that it is just as disgusting as I remember....and Parker agreed!

I gave him the first bite. He watched the spoon come to his mouth with excitment and then he gave me the "Yuck-O Mom" face. He then moved on to blowing nasty rice cereal bubbles. And then we ended with a bath!

Needless to say, we are working into solid food. Next, bananas. Wish us luck!

Sleepless in Sacramento

Oh please, oh please sleep five hours tonight. Words that have become my daily mantra. Parker is the happiest baby. He giggles, plays, screeches, plays with his feet...and then he eats and takes a nap. We are struggling a bit at night. He sleeps from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Then until 1:30 a.m. Then 3:30 a.m. And finally wakes up at 4:45 a.m. every morning! He wakes up happy.
But, when oh when will we get two five hour stretches of sleep? Maybe tonight?

Almost 5 months...

February 8, 2009. My first week back to work. Parker's four month check up (even though he was 41/2 months).

Parker's Stats:
  • Weight - 16.4 lbs. (50th percentile)
  • Length - 25 inches (40th percentile)
  • Head circ -don't remember (40th percentile)
  • Drool - about 50 buckets a day!

Oh yes, and I must mention the haircut. Our little boy had horrible hair, so Chris decided to shave it off. That is right, our son had two haircuts before he was five months old!

Mountains of fun.

Who knew our family cabin would bring so much joy. In early February, we snuck away for a long weekend with Mike, Konrad, Caleb, Tommy and Ken. We played in the snow, Mike made breakfast every morning on the BBQ (even in the rain), we drank wine and watched movies. The best part of the weekend, just hanging with great friends. AND - I even went sledding. Yes, that is a picture of the hill and yes it is very steep from the top!

We were brought together six years ago with what started as an American Idol night. That tradition is still going strong - every Tuesday we get together to have dinner and watch the show. The cool part, when we started there was no Caleb, there was no Parker and there was no Sammy!

What fun! Can't wait until we all convene in Blue Lake Springs in August for a little pool and outdoor movie experience.

Ready, Set, Sit Up

It seems that my good friend Holly is good luck. She has been witness to a number of very cool "things." She was there when I got the call that I was pregnant, she helped Parker learn to love his pacifier, and today she witnessed Parker sitting up for the first time (for more than 30 seconds). Apparently Holly brings good luck.

Parker was a little unsure of sitting by himself. He would sit for a bit (again, longer than 3o seconds, less than 60 seconds), look up at me, freak out a bit and then bend forward at the waste.

What a special time! I love my boy and can't wait for each and every milestone. Da bugs is just a growing!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho - It's off to work I go...

September 23, 2009 - February 8, 2010
Parker is 4 1/2 months and it is time for mommy to go back to work. Thank goodness for the grandmother's who are watching him. He gets to play with Mama Vicky a few days a week and Mama Suzie and Uncle Matt the other days. In fact, Parker is the ONLY person that can get Uncle Matt out of bed before noon. It is those darn blue eyes and crazy fun giggles that get him up.
I will say that I am torn. I want to be home with Parker every day, but it also feels good to get out of the house and be among adults. And then I see the pictures. Parker has so much fun with his Grandma's and Uncle Matt! We are so lucky!
