Golf
Our bugs loves to golf. He also relates golf clubs, golf balls and golf carts to Papa because of the lunches at Del Paso Country Club and the hours spent on the putting green and driving a cart. This time, we golfed at the Sequoia Woods Country Club during a weekend at the cabin. Parker also used a mini golf club. He loves spending time on the green!

We had a fun pirate themed 2nd birthday party for Parker. All of his friends came and bounced their little hearts out (while eating cotton candy and snow cones between bounces). And the best part of the birthday was when we sang Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me to Parker instead of Happy Birthday. Parker and all of the kids loved the song. They were singing, clapping and dancing so much we sang it twice!
I love my little two year old!

Just the two of us...
Slumber Party
Parker has the best grandparents and uncle in the WORLD! Last weekend, DiDi and Matt took Parker for a night. They had a slumber party that included swinging under the stars (because Parker did not want to leave the park), having cookies with Elmo while watching Cars, falling asleep on the couch with Matt and sleeping with DiDi. Wow, what a lucky kid! And what lucky parents. Nothing makes me happier than watching Parker climb into DiDi's car to head off for an adventure.

We had a fun BBQ at Ryan and Holly's house (with Naana and Mike) and Parker took a ride on the trike and, well he fell over. He did not cry, he just waited patiently to be rescued and Daddy took the opportunity to snap a photo before helping! All the while Parker was saying, "I brake, Daddy, I brake."
Some of Parker's favorite words...
Boppy = Pacifier
Baby = Blanket (White, tattered, bear head blanket)
nigh nigh = night night, typically in the form of Arker "no nigh nigh"
Tinkle Tinkle = Twinkle Twinkle
Mine = Parker's, and now he clarifies what he means by saying, "mine, Arker's"
Bot bot = Bottle
Ama = Mama Vicky
DiDi = Mama Suzie
Matt = just Matt no Uncle
Papa = Papa Bob
And his favorite word of them all = Bella (Parker loves the "l" sound)

Roughing it with Daddy
We took our annual summer vacation at the cabin in July. Mike and Caleb joined us for the fun. I was not able to join the group until Friday evening, which left two full days of Mike and Daddy fun! As you can see from a fun filled, ice creamtastic day at the pool. Wouldn't you want to lie around after eating two ice cream treats?

Independence!
We celebrated America's Independence Day with Parker showing signs of his own increased independence.
We started the day with the East Sacramento parade where Parker walked the streets with bicycles, military tanks (which he got to drive), and fire engines. He then ate his own rib, taking the time to say cheese to the camera.
We then tried for a nap before heading to the annual Weller Way festivities at Mike and Konrad's, but he once again showed his independence and decided that he only needed a 5 minute cat nap.
He was a swimming fool all afternoon. He wanted to go under the water just like Avery, Harri and Caleb. He also kept pushing off of Chris and me as if he wanted to swim all by himself. We are so happy that he likes the water...again.
After two hours of playing in the pool, he turned to Chris and said, "nigh nigh daddy, pappy? Go bye bye." Chris took him home and Parker was asleep by 6. He had a wonderful Independence Day. And once again we are reminded how much fun we have as a family and how lucky we are to live on such a wonderful street!

A morning drive.
One Saturday morning, Parker and I decided to go outside and play in our jammies. He grabbed my glasses and got on his Mini Cooper for a morning drive. It was so fun to watch him play.
I did realize while taking his photo that he looked a little like a mini Kevin Bacon (Ren) from Footloose. The tossled hair, the attitude in the eyes...I was kind of waiting for him to bust out into a dance routine. It didn't happen this time, but just you wait!

Go go go
We took a spontaneous trip to Monterey in July. We wanted to get away and spend some time together and we landed on the coast with great weather, fun activities and a very happy Parker. We went to the beach, we went to the Dennis the Menace Park (that my mother took me to as a child), and we just walked around Carmel-By-The-Sea. It was a specatular trip and we just loved having a weekend together.
I am the one in the pictures because Chris had a hurt knee and trailed a little behind.

Children's Museum
We went to the Discovery Children's Museum in the Bay Area where Parker shoveled gravel, ran in dirt, found a tree trunk tunnel, played in water, built a boat, discovered a hula hoop, walked on a waterbed, was the Captain of a ship (yo ho yo ho is his favorite song) and pushed every button and pulled every lever in the joint. This museum is amazing, with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, parents can let their children run, play and explore. Chris and I were in awe of how much fun Parker had at every turn. It was a great family day and just reminded us how lucky we are to have one another!
